In hopes that I might be able to use my gDiapers as cloth diapers at home, and use the flushables when we're out of the house, I bought the gCloth inserts.I've also purchased prefolds and "g-flappers" made by a work-at-home mother. I had hoped that the gCloth inserts might fit better and avoid breaking the seal formed by the nylon liner, since they're made by gDiapers to fit their own product.

Unlike Goldilocks, however, I have yet to find the "just right" cloth insert for my gDiapers. The gCloth inserts leak because they are too small to absorb enough liquid, while the prefolds and g-flappers leak because they are too thick and break the seal on the diaper. The gCloth liners do fit quite well in the diaper -- in fact, they're smaller than the flushable inserts. The hemp is supposed to become absorbent with washing; however, I washed the inserts the prescribed six times before using them, and have washed them many times since, but they do not fully absorb even one wetting. My daughter is two months old, and doesn't seem to be a heavy wetter. She can get through the night with no problem in the flushable liners; she can barely make it an hour in the gCloth liners.I've had to double them up before they'll work for her; fortunately the liners are so small that it's relatively easy to fit two in the diaper.Doubling them up is an expensive option, though, since I have to own twice as many liners.

My other complaint about the gCloth inserts is that they take forever to dry after you wash them.Everything else in the load will be dry, but I'll have to put the gCloth liners in for a second round in the dryer, and even then sometimes I have to put them on the line to dry after that.(This is why the WAHM business makes "flappers" with one end unsewn -- it allows all of the layers to dry more quickly.)

All in all, I'd say this new product still needs some work before it's perfected.

Product Description:
gCloth inserts offer a washable and reusable option for gDiapers. They are designed specifically to fit our soft little gPants so they donÆt require any folding. They provide the same trim fit as our biodegradable gRefills without giving up the absorbency. Six inserts per pack.A super absorbing trim fit that doesnÆt require folding. Six inserts per pack. Use with little gPants.gCloth absorbs, naturally. Two layers of soft 100% polyester microfleece wick moisture away from babyÆs bottom. Two layers of hemp/cotton hold moisture in.Hemp doesnÆt wear out, it wears in.Hemp in particular becomes more absorbent with use so the more you wash gCloth inserts, the softer and more absorbent they become. How to wash and care for gCloth inserts. For optimum softness, absorbency and sizing, wash gCloth inserts at least six (6) times before using. Wash gCloth in hot water and tumble dry on medium heat. Do not use fabric softener. Expect some shrinkage in length. The extra washing is worth the effort, because gCloth inserts become softer and more absorbent the more you wash them.
